How to choose
You drive alone to work: a front camera is often enough. You worry about being rear-ended or you back up a lot: pick a front and rear model. You carry passengers, for Uber, Lyft or family: the cabin camera shows what happens inside the car.
To record while the car is parked with the engine off, a dash cam needs constant power from the battery through a hardwire kit. Without one, it records only while the car is on.
